Another over the top Halloween costume build for my 4yo son.
This year's theme was dear to my heart: "1980's Space Lego".
Goals:
- As close to scale as possible
- Not too big (this was tough)
The first step was to come up with a spaceship design, Lego Creator was the perfect tool:
I start translating the design to something big enough for my son to sit in. Trying to stay as close to the correct proportions as possible.
Every Lego peg has the Lego logo embossed on it, I had to 3d print a bunch of these (should have made a mold).
Ship is almost done, I tried really hard to get the colors right, I think it's pretty close. I added texture to the sloped pieces for authenticity.
The final spaceship! My son actually fits!
Starting on my sons costume, 3d printed helmet:
His costume was going to have fake legs when sitting, for a more scale look
It's done!
He was a hit at his Pre-K halloween party, 1st place!
